Contest Terms & Conditions

1. Promoter
This competition is conducted by B&H Publishing & Editorial (“the Promoter”).

2. Competition name
Win a Traditional Publishing Contract with B&H Publishing & Editorial.
3. Eligibility
Entry is open to Australian residents aged 18 years or over at the time of entry.
Employees, contractors, immediate family members, and any persons directly involved in the administration or judging of this competition are not eligible to enter.
4. Competition period
The competition opens at 12 AM, AWST on the 25/03/2026 and closes at 12 AM, AWST on the 25/04/2026. Entries received outside this period will not be accepted.
5. How to enter
To enter, eligible entrants must complete the official entry form provided by the Promoter and submit all required information during the competition period.
Only one entry per person is permitted unless otherwise stated.
6. Entry requirements
By entering, the entrant confirms that:
they are the sole creator or authorised rights holder of the submitted manuscript
the manuscript is their original work
the manuscript does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party
the manuscript has not been generated wholly by AI (no more than 20% of the total word count) without substantial human authorship (at least 80% of the total word count) and editorial control
the manuscript has not been previously published in any form, whether electronically or in print, including through self-publishing, hybrid publishing, or traditional publishing
the manuscript is not currently under contract, committed, or otherwise accepted for publication elsewhere
all information submitted is true and correct
7. Prizes
One winner will receive the opportunity to enter into a traditional publishing contract with B&H Publishing & Editorial.
One Runner-up will receive the opportunity to enter into a hybrid publishing contract with B&H Publishing & Editorial
8. Important prize conditions
The prize is strictly subject to manuscript approval, publishing suitability, editorial assessment, and the Promoter’s acquisitions standards. Winning this competition does not guarantee publication unless the manuscript is approved by the Promoter following its standard acquisitions and publishing review process.
9. If manuscript is not approved
If the winning manuscript does not meet the Promoter’s publishing standards or is otherwise considered unsuitable for publication, the Promoter reserves the right to:
decline to offer a publishing contract, and/or
substitute the prize with an alternative of equal or lesser stated value, such as a manuscript assessment or editorial report at the promoter’s discretion.
10. Prize inclusions and exclusions
Unless expressly stated otherwise, the publishing contract does not include:
guaranteed sales or bestseller status
paid marketing campaigns
film, audiobook, or adaptation opportunities
cash in lieu of the prize
transfer of the prize to another person
Any contract offered will be governed by a separate publishing agreement containing commercial terms, production scope, royalties, rights, and obligations.
11. Winner selection
Entries will be judged based on merit, originality, concept strength, writing quality, and publishing suitability. Chance plays no part in determining the winner.
12. Winner notification
The winner will be notified by email within [insert number] business days of the draw/judging date. If the winner cannot be contacted within [insert number] days, the Promoter reserves the right to select another winner.
13. Publicity
By entering, entrants agree that if they win, the Promoter may publish their first name, surname initial, and/or social media handle for promotional purposes, unless prohibited by law.
14. Privacy
Personal information collected will be used for the purpose of administering this competition and contacting entrants in relation to the competition.
If entrants opt in, their information may also be used for marketing communications from B&H Publishing & Editorial. Personal information will be handled in accordance with the Promoter’s Privacy Policy.
15. Rights in submitted material
Entrants retain copyright in their manuscript. By entering, entrants grant the Promoter a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to review the submitted material solely for the purposes of administering this competition, assessing eligibility, and evaluating the manuscript for the prize.
16. Disqualification
The Promoter reserves the right to verify entries and disqualify any entrant who:
submits false or misleading information
breaches these terms and conditions
submits plagiarised, defamatory, offensive, or unlawful material
attempts to manipulate or interfere with the entry process
17. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, the Promoter is not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, misdirected, or technically interrupted entries, or for any damage, loss, or disappointment suffered in connection with this competition.
18. Cancellation or modification
The Promoter reserves the right to cancel, suspend, or amend the competition where necessary due to circumstances beyond its reasonable control, subject to applicable law.
19. Acceptance of terms
By entering, entrants agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
20. Governing law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Western Australia, Australia.
